first_imgDetails of last year’s Heritage Week.National Heritage Week takes place from Saturday, August 20 until Sunday, August 28 this year with the theme of ‘100 Years of Heritage’.If you or your group is planning an event for Heritage Week, free training days for event organisers are being held in the Gresham Hotel, O’Connell Street, Dublin on Thursday, April 14 and in the Druid Theatre, Flood Street, Galway on Wednesday, April 27 organised by The Heritage Council. Places are limited so advance booking is essential.“County Donegal has become one of the places to be during National Heritage Week with over 100 events taking place around the county every year” said Joseph Gallagher, County Donegal Heritage Officer. “The Heritage Council organise free training days every year to provide advice and support to people and groups planning to organise ‘Heritage Week’ events. This year’s training will include themes such as reaching new audiences, event management, resources and networking with other event organisers. It’s a great way to learn how to plan your Heritage Week event and to get ideas and inspiration for local events”.National Heritage Week is coordinated by The Heritage Council in association with Local Authority Heritage Officers and sees events organised across the country by almost 1,000 heritage enthusiasts from organisations to community groups and individuals.You can register for one of the free Heritage Week Event Organiser Training Days in Dublin or Galway by registering on-line on the Heritage Week website at www.heritageweek.ie.
