first_imgLetterkenny Babies is hosting a Communion Wear Event on Friday 8th March, 7-8pm in Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny. All money raised from the sale of an extensive range of Communion Wear will go to High 5 for Conall. This local fundraising initiative aims to raise €55,555 ( all the fives! ) to renovate a special little boy’s home to suit his needs in time for his 5th birthday.Conall, aged 4, is a 24-hour palliative care child. For his upcoming fifth birthday, a kind-hearted community has launched a campaign to help fund bathroom facilities and a fully furnished room for the popular little fighter. Organisers behind the Letterkenny Babies Facebook page for parents are appealing to anyone with Communion clothes hanging in a wardrobe to consider donating it to this worthy cause.A Letterkenny Babies spokesperson said: “As Marie Kondo would say, clothes only ‘spark joy’ when they’re worn … If you have a communion dress or little suit hanging in the wardrobe, please let it have another day in the sun! Otherwise, it will eventually discolour and need to be dumped.“Anyone with communion clothes or accessories to donate is asked to kindly contact the Letterkenny Babies page or to drop them into Sonder, Letterkenny, which has kindly offered to act as a drop-off point for donations. “Thankfully, many people from all around Donegal have answered our call already and have donated stunning communion wear – freshly dry-cleaned and in perfect condition for the big day. It will be a ‘win win win’ situation for everyone involved if this event is a success.”Why support this First Communion event?Wardrobes will be cleared out – so original owners ( and Marie Kondo ) will be delighted and can rest assured they’ve ‘done good’!Local parents and kids will grab a bargain, knowing that their communion purchase is making a difference to a special local child.High 5 for Conall will see all funds lodged directly into their account.“We are encouraging people to come along, not because they ‘need’ to save money on communion outfits, but because they want their money to do good,” said the organisers.Although many local First Communions aren’t on until late May, some parents have bought their child’s outfit already. However, accessories including bags, gloves and headpieces and shoes will all be available to purchase separately at the event, so they may still find something they’d like to buy.As well as that, a hairdresser will be onsite to offer hair styling suggestions for the big day. There will also be a raffle to enter, with local cake-makers joining forces to offer dozens of ‘First Communion’ cupcakes to the lucky winners. “We really hope there will be a good turn out of parents and First Communion kids, ready to snap up a bargain, but ultimately, to put their money to good use to help out a special little boy.” – Letterkenny Babies. To donate to High Five for Conall you can visit the Go Fund Me or if you would like to fundraise or make a direct donation you can contact Siobhan (086 170 2787), Alma (087 695 2551) or any committee member.Parents invited to support communion wear fundraiser for Conall Shiels fund was last modified: March 1st, 2019 by Rachel McLaughlinShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:communion wearconall shielsFriends of Conallletterkenny babieslast_img
